Buckeye Region - Defiance, Paulding, Putnam & Van Wert County Farm Bureaus Focusing on Farming For more than 25 years, Farm Focus has served Ohio as the state’s second largest farm tradeshow. It’s held each August at the Marsh Foundation Grounds in Van Wert. The Defiance, Paulding, Putnam and Van Wert County Farm Bureaus have supported Farm Focus for many years and will again have a big presence at this year’s tradeshow, Aug. 6 and 7. The four counties will have a tent with many displays inside. Most of the tent will focus on water quality and marketing. Volunteers will have OFBF’s AWARE kits on hand for people to learn about checking the water quality near their homes and farms. There also will be computers set up so visitors to the tent can check the daily markets and get onto the Ohio Farm Bureau Web site. The tent also will offer a safety rest area for folks to get out of the sun and relax. The county Farm Bureaus also will provide bottled water to visitors. They will also help with wagon tours around the facility and OSU Extension’s research plots. Participants will learn about everything from soil quality to seed planting. "This is a big event for our four counties," said Kendra Lopshire, OFBF organization director for Defiance, Paulding, Putnam and Van Wert counties. "Our tent gets a lot of traffic, and I think we help answer many questions and show people what Farm Bureau is doing for them." | |
