Kahrs Named Metro Program Coordinator Emily Kahrs has been named OFBF metropolitan program coordinator. In this role, Kahrs will work with Ohio's 10 metropolitan counties to develop programs and activities to raise recognition that agriculture plays an important role in Ohio's economy. She will use her background in media to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers and between farmers and urban legislators. Kahrs said she will be involved in activities familiar to members, such as Food Check-Out Day and Farm/City Day and numerous other promotional events and activities. She also will be creating new programs as she learns more about new opportunities where Farm Bureau is able to get involved. The Union County native was raised on a grain and sheep farm and was very active in 4-H and FFA, serving as State FFA reporter. In addition, she was the 1995 Ohio State Fair Queen. She is a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in agricultural communications and a minor in agribusiness. Prior to joining Farm Bureau, Kahrs worked at television stations in Cleveland, Columbus, Mansfield, Youngstown and Columbia, S.C. She has held various roles such as reporter, anchor and producer. She is a member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority Alumni and Calvary Baptist Church. She and husband, Kevin, are relocating to the Marysville area. | |
