Pioneer Region - Belmont County Farm Bureau
Each spring, Belmont County Farm Bureau holds its "Salad Buffet," which is meant to bring rural and urban residents together. This year’s educational and entertaining event was held April 23. Belmont County Farm Bureau’s Promotion and Education Committee organizes the event. The Advisory Councils of the county provide salads for dinner. Many county Farm Bureau members bring goodies to share as well. There were more than 80 people at this year’s event. Throughout the years, the program has featured the Olney Friends School dancers, Ag in the Classroom, sing-a-longs, Native American dancers, style shows and even a Krazy style show. "This is an excellent opportunity to have an update on legislative issues and just good fellowship with the city cousins we invite to join us for the evening," said Betsy Anderson, OFBF organization director for Belmont, Guernsey, Monroe and Noble counties. The Salad Buffet is moved to different locations in the county each year to try to involve different urban neighbors. This also gives different Advisory Councils a chance to host the event in their areas. The hosting council provides guidance of where the event will be held, organizes the program and sets up for the event. "There is always a great turn out of people and plenty of food," Anderson said. | |
