Seneca County FB Meets Teachers Needs

The Seneca County Farm Bureau will work in conjunction with the Republic Elementary School to implement "Lessons in Economics" teacher kits in the school system. The primary focus will be on third grade, because these students are preparing for the proficiency tests.

Gary Baldosser, OFBF state trustee, and the Republic Elementary School principal, teachers, and others will work together to plan teacher workshops on how to implement the program and how to maximize its efficiency and effectiveness. Meetings have been planned to identify the needs of teachers and how Farm Bureau can meet them.

The Seneca County Farm Bureau also hopes to bring Farm Bureau members into the classroom to discuss how "economics" affects their day-to-day operations. Other ideas include farm tours, agricultural projects beyond the kit, and on-site science projects based on agriculture.

"We’re really excited about getting this project under way. If we are successful in this program, we will most likely implement the project in all of Seneca County’s elementary schools," said Kelly Saft, organization director for Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot counties.
