Annual Mission Gets Taxing

Ohio Farm Bureau is hosting this summer's Fact Finding Mission: Taxing Ohio's Future: An Overview of Key Tax Issues Aug. 28 and 29 at the Westin Great Southern Hotel in Columbus. OFBF Director of Agricultural Law Information Nan Still said the two-day program is open to 45 people and will look at how Ohio residents are taxed, problems with the current tax structure and what taxpayers can do to effect desired changes.

A panel of county auditors will present a discussion on Current Agricultural Use Valuation and school taxes; other topics will include national tax priorities, tax impact on economic development and a presentation from The Buckeye Institute, an Ohio think-tank that studies public policy issues. Other speakers include Thomas Zaino, Ohio’s tax commissioner, and Sen. Ron Amstutz. The program will end with a humorous look at tax reform from Richard Vedder, Ohio University, a national public speaker who has his own ideas on how to "fix" the nation's tax system.

A $75 fee covers all meals, the program and a night's stay at the Westin. For more information contact your county Farm Bureau office.
