Faces Thomas M. Zaino Thomas Zaino was appointed Ohio’s tax commissioner in 1999. In this position, Zaino advocates a tax system based on five guiding principles: simplicity; equity and fairness; stability and sufficiency; neutrality; and competitiveness. Prior to accepting the appointment, he was a tax-consulting partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Zaino participates on the Governor’s Council on Electronic Commerce and is a member of the Ohio Growth Project Steering Committee. He is a member of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association. He also chairs the Governor's Interagency Cabinet Team to implement House Bill 202, creating a single form for small businesses to report information to Ohio’s various governmental agencies. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree in accounting and from Ohio State University with a law degree. He is married and has two young children. | |
