Buckeye Region - Henry County Farm Bureau

Fair Tent is Site of Entertainment

The Henry County Farm Bureau tent at the Henry County Fair was the site of entertainment and information the week of Aug. 9 to 16.

Farm Bureau displays included gravity flow wagon safety, tractor with power take off safety, commodity groups and membership programs.

Some of the entertainment included food contests and auctions, fair king and queen coronations, centennial farm presentations, karaoke, 4-H style show, antique evaluation, performing arts and musical groups, among others. The county Farm Bureau also gave away popcorn to visitors to the tent.

"A highlight of the week was presenting the awards to the owners of the centennial farms. This year we have six families who have the same farm in their family for 100 years or longer," said Roy Norman, OFBF organization director for Fulton, Henry and Williams counties. "We also had a barbecue on Saturday. People also really got into the largest ripe tomato contest."

The Ohio Corn Growers Association had its minivan that runs on 85 percent ethanol at the tent all week, as well. Members of the association are available to talk to fairgoers about the importance of ethanol production for Ohio’s farmers.

"Having the tent at the fair with ongoing activities is a great way to introduce people to Henry County Farm Bureau," Norman said. "We can focus on safety items, while telling people about Farm Bureau, and allowing them to come in and have fun and enjoy the fair."
