Farmer views on emergency servicesFarm Bureau Advisory Councils recently discussed the quality and quantity of emergency services in their local areas. Here are a few of the comments shared. Wayne NW #19 – Twenty years ago the average time a volunteer stayed with the department was 10 years , now it is about two years. Much more training required. Younger people don’t want to take the time required. Wyandot Mohawk Dirty Dozen – State needs to be careful about regulating volunteer EMS and fire department training or we won’t have any volunteers. Rural communities can’t afford to pay full-time personnel. Richland Crestview Activators – Volunteers buy their own gear which is costly. More people could volunteer if not so costly or if it were furnished. Huron Harvesters – We really should commend the volunteer firefighters for what they do. They are our heroes, our guardian angels. | |
