Paul Panico

Paul Panico was appointed chief of the Ohio Department of Agriculture's (ODA) Division of Food Safety in 2000. His responsibilities include managing and directing the statewide wholesale/processing and retail food safety programs for the department.

He was hired by ODA in 1997 as assistant chief of the Division of Food Safety. Panico was the chair of the National Conference for Food Protection from 1994 through 1996 and has served on the executive board of that national organization since 1992 representing the Mid-Atlantic State food regulatory agencies. From 1997 through 1999 he was a member of the National Food Safety System, coordinating the Foodborne Outbreak Response Committee representing the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

He received his Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan.
