Volunteer Training Sessions OfferedCounty program chairmen are invited to attend an upcoming area cabinet meeting, according to Jeff Watkins, OFBF vice president for field services. "When we enlist volunteers, we want to give them the best training we can, so they are thoroughly prepared to go back to the county and do their jobs," he said. County Information Coordinators, County Presidents and Government Affairs, Advisory Council and Young Farmer, Promotion and Education, and Agricultural Ecology chairmen are invited to attend the fall sessions in each area. Farm Income and Risk Management chairmen are invited to attend the River Valley and Buckeye Area meetings. Following are the meeting dates. All meetings will be held in the evening: Buckeye Area, Nov. 14 The meetings include dinner and a training session with the OFBF staff members who coordinate each program area. Watkins said he sees two main advantages to the training. "There is a benefit to being with others who are in the same position," he said. "There also is an opportunity for idea and program sharing among the counties. Past participants have said that this is one of the most valued aspects of the training." Watkins also listed the social aspect of the meetings. "If you have spent the day alone on a combine, there's the opportunity that night to go to a Farm Bureau meeting and visit with others who share your interest in farming," he said. Chairmen will receive an invitation to the meeting from the OFBF office in mid-October. Registration is required. Please contact your county president if you plan to attend. | |
