Beard fills Buckeye OD position

Alex Beard has accepted the position of organization director for Hardin, Logan and Union counties. Beard replaces Vera Miller who will retire in November.

Beard first came to OFBF as an intern for the business services department the summer of 2001. This June he was hired as an organization director (OD) trainee. In that role he filled-in for ODs who were on leave or vacation.

In his current position, he will act as liaison between the county Farm Bureaus and OFBF. He will assist the county groups as they develop and implement programs to strengthen the organization and enhance its ability to serve its members.

"Alex has spent part of the last two years working for (OFBF) in some capacity. The training and experience he received will prove to be very beneficial as he works to serve the members in Hardin, Logan and Union counties," said Jeff Watkins, vice president of field services.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve the Farm Bureau members in Logan, Hardin and Union counties. These three county Farm Bureaus are driven by hardworking, dedicated folks who I am greatly looking forward to working with," Beard said.

The native of Delaware County is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and of Ohio State's Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) with an associate’s degree in dairy science. While in college, Beard was the president of the OSU Collegiate Farm Bureau and a member of the ATI Dairy Club.

Beard and his wife, Sarah, reside in Huntsville.
