Program takes a look at wind energy

Small-scale wind energy will be the focus of the Ohio Wind Power Conference scheduled for Nov. 18 and 19 at the Northwest Center in Dublin near Columbus. Those attending will leave the meeting with an "Ohio Wind Energy Toolkit" to help in developing a wind project, according to promotional materials about the conference.

The meeting is organized by Green Energy Ohio, Ohio Department of Development Office of Energy Efficiency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Sponsors are American Corn Growers Association, Franklin County-Columbus Metro Parks, Green Mountain Energy and the endorsing sponsor, Environmental Law & Policy Center of the Midwest.

Speakers include Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Toledo, and officials from the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. A special dedication of a wind turbine at Glacier Ridge Metro Park kicks-off the conference at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 18; the program's first formal presentation begins at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 19. Cost for the event is $25.
