Kevin Thierry of Henry County won this year’s Ohio Farm Bureau Discussion Meet and will represent the Buckeye State in the national contest to be held at the AFBF annual meeting in Tampa, Fla.

Thierry competed against Angela Emmons of Fulton County, Doug Hafer of Marion County and Amanda Miller of Tuscarawas County in the final round. The discussion ventured to answer the question: "Is a sound agricultural economy a matter of national security and defense?"

The Discussion Meet is not a debate. Instead it represents the kind of discussion that could take place at any committee meeting. Contestants are judged on their knowledge of the subject, ability to encourage others to contribute and ability to criticize while supporting other participants’ input.

As winner Thierry received $1,000 from Nationwide, $500 from Dodge, an expense paid trip to the AFBF Tampa meeting and a chime clock.
