OFBF celebrates 35 years of growth

Members of Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) celebrated a successful membership campaign for 2002. For the 35th consecutive year, OFBF reached total membership gain reaching 215,241, an all-time membership high in the organization’s 83-year history, according to Mike Fearon, OFBF’s director of membership activities.

In addition to overall member gain, the organization saw an active farmer gain as well. "It’s been a long, hard campaign, but our volunteers never gave up. They were troopers – going door-to-door soliciting members," Fearon said last summer after the campaign ended. "The hard work of our volunteers, OFBF staff and our partners at Nationwide has made this membership campaign a success."

Nationwide Remembers Heritage

More than 75 years ago, Ohio Farm Bureau founded what is now Nationwide Insurance.

In July, OFBF and Nationwide teamed up to sponsor Heritage Day, which celebrated Nationwide's heritage and gave Nationwide employees the opportunity to learn more about Farm Bureau programs and benefits.

During the downtown Columbus lunchtime event, OFBF member benefit providers, COSI and representatives from Farm Bureau's promotion and education, agricultural ecology, government affairs, advisory councils, OFB Foundation, member services and member communications provided information. Other Heritage Day activities were held in Canton and at Nationwide's Tuttle Crossing location in northwest Columbus.
