Benefits save moneyThere are many benefits to being a Farm Bureau member, and in 2002 more benefits were added. Farm Bureau members can now take advantage of a discount offered by Grainger Industrial Supply. Grainger offers hand tools; power tools; pneumatics; test instruments; and electrical, HVAC, janitorial, lighting, metalworking, motors and safety supplies. Grainger carries more than 100,000 items in-stock available for same-day shipment. OFBF members receive 10 percent savings off of the Grainger catalog price on more than 90,000 products. The Dodge Bonus certificate gives members the opportunity to save $500 on a Dodge model vehicle. The Dodge Bonus program has existed since 1992, and has allowed 10,345 Ohio Farm Bureau members to save a total of $5,172,500. Until this year, the certificate was only good toward the purchase of a new truck, but now it is open to all Dodge models. Farm Bureau now offers low, competitive rates on long-distance and toll-free telephone services for home and business through First Communications, a multi-communication service company. Members are charged 6.5 cents a minute for state-to-state, in-state and local toll calls. High volume long distance users may qualify for a lower rate. An optional incoming toll-free number is offered at the same low 6.5 cent rate, plus a $2.95 monthly fee. The discount at local Sherwin Williams stores has increased to 25 percent. Previously, members’ discount cards were worth only 20 percent off the list price. Farm Bureau members can also take advantage of an improved Accidental Death and Specific Loss policy (formerly referred to as Accidental Death and Dismemberment) through Nationwide Insurance. For example, if you are a member for one or more years and renew your Farm Bureau membership by Dec. 31, accidental death insurance jumps from $2,000 to $5,000. Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) also is a new member benefit. Pet insurance, like medical insurance for humans, is designed to bridge the gap between a pet owner's ability to pay and the actual costs of what's available. Also in 2002, Farm Bureau Bank added a Visa business card with an agri-business focus. For more information about these and other member benefits, contact your county Farm Bureau office. | |
