Faces Jennette Bradley Ohio’s new lieutenant governor is doing double duty, carrying out some traditional roles of her office as well as serving as director of the Ohio Department of Commerce. Among her duties as lieutenant governor, Jennette Bradley is Gov. Bob Taft’s liaison to county and local governments. She chairs the Clean Ohio Council, which selects projects that will receive grants and low-interest loans from the $200 million Clean Ohio Fund. In this role, she works with the Ohio Department of Development's Office of Urban Development to improve the financial viability of Ohio's older communities. As chief policy adviser for community development and housing programs, Bradley works with the Ohio Department of Development's Community Development Division and the Office of Housing and Community Partnerships to support and strengthen Ohio's neighborhoods. Bradley also chairs the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, which offers housing opportunities to Ohioans. Bradley also serves as the administration's liaison to small business and co-chairs the governor's Small Business Advisory Council to ensure that the concerns of Ohio's entrepreneurs are heard and communicated to the governor. As director of the Department of Commerce, Bradley administers the state's chief regulatory agency, protecting consumers and ensuring the safety and soundness of numerous industries through its Divisions of Financial Institutions, Industrial Compliance, Labor and Worker Safety, Liquor Control, Real Estate and Professional Licensing, Securities, State Fire Marshal and Unclaimed Funds. Bradley previously was a member of the Columbus City Council. She also was a senior vice president, public funds manager for the Huntington National Bank. Before joining the bank, Bradley was with Kemper Securities as a senior vice president public finance banker. Bradley also served as executive director of the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority. Bradley is a member of the board of trustees for Wittenberg University, from which she received her bachelor’s degree. Bradley is married to Michael C. Taylor; they live in Columbus. | |
