Former FFA’ers sought for celebrationFormer Future Farmer’s of America (FFA) members are being sought by the national FFA organization to reconnect with other former members and support the organization as it celebrates its 75th anniversary. The "Reconnect to FFA" campaign is just part of the yearlong celebration of FFA at 75, which began in October 2002 at the group’s national convention and will culminate at the October 2003 national meeting. "Reconnect to FFA" is a multi-media effort designed to reconnect former members with the organization. "We believe we have about 4 million former members across the country, and for the most part, we don’t know where they are or what they’re doing," said Kent Schescke, division director of the National FFA Foundation. "Through this program, FFA is hoping that former members will become re-engaged with the organization," he added. "It is important that those who have gained from their FFA experience give back to the organization by offering assistance to current and future members through volunteerism, advocacy and financial support." The American Farm Bureau Federation estimates that a third to one-half of these former FFA members are now affiliated with the more than 5 million Farm Bureau member families. By registering as a former FFA member, you become a resource in your community that can be available to inspire your local FFA chapter. To register as a former member, go to the FFA Web site, click on the "Supporters" button and select "Former Members" from the pull down menu. You can access the FFA Web site through Ohio Farm Bureau’s site at www.ofbf.org. | |
