Profiles Volunteer Ed Hankinson, 71, has lived on his Licking County farm all of his life and has been a Farm Bureau member for more than 50 years. He is vice president of the Licking County Farm Bureau board, a position he also held in the 1960s. Hankinson is also the county’s government affairs chair. He has served on the membership campaign committee, as an advisory council member and as a delegate to the OFBF annual meeting. "Even though I retired a few years ago, I can’t give up farming. I help the folks who lease my farm by driving the combine or whatever I can to stay active," Hankinson said. "That’s why I think it’s so important to be a member of Farm Bureau. We need a voice in the government. It helps our cause when representatives vote on ag issues." Prior to retiring, Hankinson raised beef cattle, ewes and lambs. He was inducted into the Licking County Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1998. He and his wife, Betty, have four daughters and nine grandchildren. They reside in Alexandria and are members of the Alexandria Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon. | |
