Membership chairmen rewarded for reaching goals

The annual membership chairmen's trip was well-deserved for 125 Farm Bureau volunteers who excelled at this year's campaign. To qualify, a chairman's county needed to reach either farmer gain by or overall gain by March 22. The top three area signers also were invited. The two-day bus trip to Indianapolis included stops at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Connor Prairie -- a living history museum -- and Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre.

Volunteers were presented with awards and prizes during an evening banquet. Chairmen whose counties achieved overall gain by Feb. 14, and/or that reached Silver Plowshare (50 farmer-member gain or a 7 percent increase over last year) were honored. The top three new member signers were given plaques.

OFBF's campaign is still under way, according to Mike Fearon, OFBF director of membership activities. At press time, Fearon said the organization was 200 farmer members away from farmer gain and approximately 3,000 members from overall member gain.

Volunteers are still working to get nonrenewals and prospects, and working to qualify for the membership incentive contest, he said. Until May 15, volunteers who sign six members, new or renewal, qualify for a day trip to Amish Country in Holmes County on June 28.
