Profiles Staff Pat Petzel has worked in the area of agricultural journalism and public relations since graduating from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications in 1992. She came to Ohio Farm Bureau in October 1992 as a communications specialist. In that position, she wrote for the organization’s magazine and directed the county information coordinator program. In January 2001 she was promoted to director of promotion and education. She administers OFBF’s outreach efforts designed to enhance public understanding of agriculture’s contributions to the economy and society. "I think more and more we see the importance of communicating about agriculture and the benefits society has gained from our food production system," Petzel said. "It’s a great story and is certainly good news, which is why it’s such a challenge to have it told in the media. It’s a challenge we all need to work together on." Prior to working for OFBF, Petzel was an intern writer for the Ohio Florists’ Association, American Quarter Horse Association in Amarillo, Texas, and Ohio State University Extension. Petzel recently completed a master’s degree from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She has also won awards in writing, photography and public relations from the American Farm Bureau and the International Association of Business Communicators.
