AWARE field training set

Anyone interested in OFBF’s Agricultural Watershed Awareness and Resource Evaluation (AWARE) program may join in field training throughout the state from June through August.

Hands-on training will be offered, and participants will learn how to use OFBF’s water quality monitoring kits.

"Continually collecting information about the quality of the state’s waterways, we will further be able to add to a usable and reliable database and make sure our waterways are well taken care of," said Larry Antosch, OFBF director of environmental research. "Training will be hands-on, and participants will be in the waterways with the monitoring kits."

The following is the current AWARE field training schedule:

  • June 12 – Great Miami River, Tawawa Park, State Route 47, Sidney, Shelby County, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • June 25 – Olentangy River, Highbanks Metro Park, Franklin County, 10 a.m. to noon
  • June 26 – Little Miami River, John Bryan State Park, Greene County, 10 a.m. to noon
  • June 30 – Clearfork-Mohican River, Mohican State Park, Ashland County, 10 a.m. to noon
  • July 15 – Swine Creek, Swine Creek Reservation, Geauga County, 10 a.m. to noon
  • July 16 – Beaver Creek, Beaver Creek State Park, Columbiana County, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Week of July 21, Salt Creek, location TBD, Muskingum County, time TBD
  • July 29 – Sandusky River, Wolf Creek Park, south of Freemont on State Route 53, Sandusky County, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Aug. 1 – Waterway TBD, Event at Farm Focus, Van Wert County, time TBD
  • Aug. 5 – White Oak Creek, location TBD, Brown County, time TBD
