OFBF thanks FSA staff members

Editor’s Note: Following is a letter from OFBF Executive Vice President Jack Fisher to all 74 county offices of the Farm Service Agency (FSA). The letter was sent in late May.

The passage of the 2002 Farm Security and Rural Investment Act provided important and necessary security for Ohio’s agricultural producers. Its sweeping changes, however, meant the re-evaluation of each individual producer’s election for program participation and the implementation of new programs and rules. The dedication, professionalism and exemplary service of you and your staff to Ohio’s agricultural producers means that their participation level accurately reflects the intention of this new farm bill.

While the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation did its best to encourage farmer members to visit your offices, we were always cognizant that once they were there it was your hard work that would dictate their successful participation. On numerous occasions we heard comments complimenting the helpfulness of county FSA staff and the extra effort given to understand each agricultural producer’s situation and objectives. The task was, and continues to be, formidable, but please know that your commitment is appreciated and vital to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

On behalf of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s farm families, thank you for tireless efforts to implement the 2002 Farm Bill. Because of your diligence and hard work, Ohio’s farmers are receiving the programs and resources needed to assure a bright future for Ohio agriculture.

Sincerely,

John C. Fisher

Executive Vice President
