River Valley Region - Athens, Gallia and Lawrence County Farm Bureaus
COSI on Wheels will be the main attraction for Athens, Gallia and Lawrence counties’ Ag Days this fall. Each county also will feature other educational agricultural workshops. All fourth-graders in those counties will participate. There will be approximately 450 students participating in each county. Athens’ Ag Day is Sept. 23, Gallia’s is Sept. 25 and Lawrence’s is Oct. 9. Each day will begin with the assembly portion of the COSI presentation and will then break into groups for COSI hands-on stations and other fun activities. Some of the other activities include a petting zoo, farm math, birds of prey, making and playing dulcimers, gardening, composting, tree of life, bees, SWCD, 4-H, tractor safety and hospital education. "This is a great way to get children interested in agriculture," said Jill Smith, organization director for Athens, Gallia and Lawrence counties. "They have a lot of fun while learning about the many different aspects of farming." | |
