Kenton Sherman
Huron County

Kenton Sherman has been a Huron County Farm Bureau member for more than 45 years. At 68, he continues to serve on the county board and takes part in many annual Farm Bureau activities.

In the past he served as membership chairman and delegate to the Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting. He has served on just about every committee imaginable including government affairs and promotion and education. He also has helped with Food Check-Out Day activities. In the 1960s, Kenton and his late wife, Ila, started the Searchers Advisory Council and were even featured in a 1965 Buckeye Farm News.

"Being an Ohio Farm Bureau member is important to me, and always has been. Being a member supports the organization that always supports the farmers," Sherman said. "Farmers need representation in the legislature, and Farm Bureau gives that to us."

When Sherman retired from farming, his son-in-law took over the operation, and now Sherman helps part-time on the grain farm. They also raise dairy heifers and steers.

He has three daughters and nine grandchildren. He resides in Bellvue. Sherman is a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church where he serves on the vestry.
