After 15 years with Farm Credit, Debbie Burkhart came to Ohio Farm Bureau in 1989 as the organization director (OD) for Morgan, Muskingum, Perry and Washington counties. As OD, Burkhart acts as a liaison between the county Farm Bureaus and OFBF. She assists the county groups as they develop and implement programs to strengthen the organization and enhance its ability to serve its members. "I have worked in the field of agriculture most of my working life and have found farmers to be a hard working group of people that are most appreciative of anything you do for them," Burkhart said. Prior to working for Farm Bureau, Burkhart was an active county volunteer serving as membership chair, womens committee chair, board secretary and board president. She and her husband, Bill, raise grain and hay on their Washington County farm. She is a member of the Highland Ridge Community Church, serves on the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors and is the secretary of the Washington County Council of Cooperatives. She and Bill have two grown children and live in Lowell. | |
