Pioneer Region - Wayne County Farm BureauWayne County Farm Bureau and the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce will host a legislative breakfast Oct. 9 at 7:30 a.m. at Pines Golf Club and Restaurant, 1319 N. Millborne Road, Orrville. The speaker for the event will be Bruce Johnson, director of the Ohio Department of Development. His topic will be The Third Frontier, "Ohio's Strategy for Technology Development in the 21st Century." Johnson is interested in Wayne County because of the community based initiative between The Wayne Economic Development Council, Wayne County Farm Bureau, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce, Chambers of Orrville & Rittman, Wayne County Commissioners, Ohio State University Department of Food & Nutrition Sciences and Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center that has resulted in the selection of OARDC in Wooster as the location for the new BioHio Industrial Park. BioHio will be an industrial incubator for fledgling industries that will use agricultural commodities in their products and for industries that will produce products for agriculture. These industries will be able to access the research and marketing assistance of OSU, OARDC, Farm Bureau and the other agencies listed above as resources to help bring their products to the competitive marketplace.
