Volunteer training sessions offeredCounty program chairmen are invited to attend an upcoming regional cabinet meeting, according to Jeff Watkins, OFBF vice president for field services. "We kick-off the program year by having the chairmen of every standing committee and the county presidents attend Leadership Conference. We then schedule fall and winter regional cabinet meetings to give volunteers an opportunity to share and evaluate the programs and activities they have conducted back in their counties. Also, they’re able to touch base with the department trainers and other county leaders to gather additional activity ideas to implement at home," he said. County Farm Bureau presidents and the following county chairmen are invited to attend the meetings: advisory council and young farmer, government affairs, promotion and education, safety and information coordinators. Following are the meeting dates. All meetings will be held in the evening: Pioneer Region, North, Nov. 3 Pioneer Region, South, Nov. 13 River Valley Region, South, Nov. 18 River Valley Region, North, Nov. 19 Buckeye Region, Nov. 20 The meetings include dinner and a training session with members of the OFBF staff who coordinate each program area. Watkins also noted the social aspect of the meetings. "If you have spent the day alone on a combine, there's the opportunity that night to go to a Farm Bureau meeting and visit with others who share your interest in farming," he said. Chairmen will receive an invitation to the meeting from the OFBF office in mid-October. Registration is required. Contact your county president if you plan to attend. | |
