Take a trip to Olde World Canterbury Village

The Wyandot County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee is sponsoring a day trip to Olde World Canterbury Village in Lake Orion, Mich., Nov. 1.

The village covers more than 21 acres with 18 specialty shops, many features and year-round family attractions. Historical Olde World Canterbury Village was developed by Stan Aldridge and his family to include an array of artifacts and antiques collected from world travels.

The trip will leave the Wyandot County Fairgrounds at 7:30 a.m. and the cost is $45, which includes transportation and lunch at Canterbury Village. Space is limited. Call Wyandot County Farm Bureau at 419-294-2567 for reservations.

Canterbury Toy World prides itself on its large selection of educational toys, books, games and puzzles. Castello di Bologna Restaurant was built with old world style and craftsmanship included from France, Scotland and England. Visitors will hear the Canterbury Clock Tower chime on the half-hour and hour. There also is a reproduction of a 19th century German carousel housed outside the Canterbury Pavilion. A matching ferris wheel and train are an outdoor seasonal attraction. Canterbury Tails Pet Collectibles offers a collection of pet items such as toys, statues, chimes, angel ornaments, watches, key chains and more. Sidney Krandall & Sons Boutique showcases its jewelry and gift creations, and The Velvet Rose makes fragrant creams and bath soaks on premises. Visitors can enjoy natural herbs, spices and an array of teas in the Tea Room.

Whittington’s Clocks and Home Accents carries clocks, fine laces and collectibles. The Nifty-N-Nuty has treats to bring back memories with old-fashioned candies, nuts, teas and flavored mixes. Tour participants also can visit Highland Fling, Celtic Connection and Leather Cottage, which carries moccasins, coats, purses, belts and unique gifts.
