Volunteer
Garry Meyer
Hocking County

Garry Meyer has been a member of Hocking County Farm Bureau for 20 years. He spent six of those years on the county board and working on the annual membership campaign and five years as county president. He and his wife, Sheila, also were advisory council chairs. Currently, he serves as safety coordinator. Each year he sets up the Hocking County Farm Bureau booth at the county fair.

"When you’re involved in Farm Bureau, you get to see how everything works and see things happen," Meyer said. "As a member, Farm Bureau keeps me on top of what is coming in agriculture and legislation. I like to watch the wheels in action. I know Farm Bureau works."

Meyer lives at the farm his great-grandfather started. He raises cattle, corn and hay. He also works off the farm at a local machine shop. He is a 4-H volunteer and a member of the FFA alumni.

He and Sheila are members of the West Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, where he teaches Sunday school. They have two children, Lacy, 19, and Shane, 13, and they reside in Rockbridge.
