More ag in the classroom Beginning its 13th year of publication, AgVenture magazine encourages fourth-grade students' literacy about the importance of Ohio agriculture, while meeting Ohio's fourth-grade academic content standards for math, language arts, science and social studies. The fall issue includes a feature on Ohio Farm Bureau's newest educational tool – a poster called "What Grows In Ohio" that shows what commodities are raised in every Ohio county. The posters are available from county Farm Bureau offices and cost $1.50 each. OFBF Education Specialist Judy Roush said the full-color posters are an excellent resource for classrooms studying Ohio or would make an inexpensive gift to elementary schools. The magazine is published three times per year and reaches an average of 187,000 students and 6,800 teachers per year. The content is the responsibility of the AgVenture Editorial Review Board, composed of representatives of the agricultural community, including Ohio Farm Bureau. AgVenture is sponsored by the Ohio Agricultural Council and Ohio State University Extension. | |
