Profiles Volunteer When Kirsten Kimley was first asked to be on the Clark County Farm Bureau board in 1994, she came home from her first meeting and told her husband, Kelley, she didn’t think she was going to like it. "But he convinced me to fulfill my two-year term, and I’m so glad he did," Kimley said. Since that time she and Kelley were on the State Young Farmer Committee and have served their county Farm Bureau in many ways. Kirsten was government affairs chairman, vice president and president. She also was a delegate to the OFBF annual meeting, on the annual President’s Trip to Washington, D.C., and a member of the Code Committee. "It is amazing to me that there is an organization that really is fighting for the farmer. Being on the State Young Farmer Committee really opened up so many doors to us. It was a huge experience," Kimley said. "The amount of knowledge I have now, that I would’ve never had without my Farm Bureau involvement, is amazing. Being a member of Farm Bureau is a great thing." The Kimleys raise corn and soybeans and have 500 acres of custom work. They have two children, Levi, 8, and Lea, 5, and reside in South Charleston. They attend the First Presbyterian Church in London. | |
