Profiles Staff After an extensive career in farm broadcasting, Joe Cornely was recruited by OFBF in 1998 to serve as the director of media relations He became director of corporate communications in 2001. In this position he is the editor of Buckeye Farm News and Our Ohio, and handles broadcast programming and media relations. "During 20 years as a broadcaster, I reported on the good things Farm Bureau was doing for Ohio farmers. Now, I get to be a part of that effort. It’s been a real treat to work alongside some very dedicated members and staff," Cornely said. He is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in communication education. Prior to coming to OFBF, he was the farm director for WRFD Radio in Columbus. He held a similar position at WLW in Cincinnati prior to that. In 1995 he was elected to a one-year term as president if the National Association of Farm Broadcasters. In 1996, he received the industry’s highest award – National Farm Broadcaster of the Year. National agricultural associations that have presented Cornely with communications awards include the Soil and Water Conservation Society, American Soybean Association, National Association of Conservation Districts and the National Corn Growers Association. He and his wife, Connie, reside in Westerville and have two grown children and one granddaughter. | |
