National gathering in Sandusky focuses on property rightsWith more than 450 organizations dealing with property rights in the United States, turn-out at this year’s National Property Rights Conference in Sandusky April 16 to 18 should be great, according to organizers of the event. Citizens for the Protection of Property Rights and 13 other organizations are sponsoring this year’s conference, held at the Radisson Harbour Inn 50 miles west of Cleveland. The conference will feature meal functions, general sessions with nationally known speakers and break-out groups dealing with legal and practical how-to topics. In addition to the conference itself, a pre-conference grassroots organizing seminar is scheduled for April 16 before registration for the national meeting begins. According to information from Citizens for the Protection of Property Rights: "This is a fantastic opportunity to join forces, network, share ideas, listen to the experts and learn the latest in a wide range of strategies and related issues. This conference is designed to help others fight their own battles in their own backyards, and to win." Other sponsors are the American Land Foundation, American Land Rights Association, Center for Individual Freedom, Citizens’ Equal Rights Alliance, Coalition for Property Rights, Competitive Enterprise Institute, Ethan Allen Institute, League of Private Property Voters, National Association of Reversionary Property Owners, National Grange, Ohio Grange, Ohio Lakefront Group and United Property Owners. Although Farm Bureau is not a co-sponsor, Larry Gearhardt, OFBF’s director of local affairs, said the organization has a strong history in protecting individual’s private property rights.
