Schumm joins OFBF boardMike Schumm of Willshire in Van Wert County has been elected to the board of trustees of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) during a special election in March. As the District 5 trustee, Schumm will represent Farm Bureau members from Allen, Paulding, Putnam and Van Wert counties. Schumm, 42, was elected to fill the board seat vacated by former OFBF President Terry McClure. McClure had resigned to be nominated by the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company board of directors for election to that board. A 24-year member of the Van Wert County Farm Bureau, Schumm is a past county president, past membership chairman and currently chairs the government affairs committee. At the state level, he has served on the OFBF Envisioned Future committee and currently sits on OFBF's line fence law task force. Along with Farm Bureau, Schumm has been active with the Zion Lutheran Church, 4-H and Willshire Lions Club. He also serves as the zoning inspector for Willshire Township. Schumm farms with his father, Frederick, and two brothers, Marlin and Maurice. Their diversified operation produces corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, and includes hogs, beef cattle, a dairy and laying hens. He and his wife, Robin, are the parents of three sons. | |
