New faces in agricultural ecology departmentChris Henney has been named director of Ohio Farm Bureau Federation agricultural ecology programs. In his role, Henney will be responsible for providing training, information and assistance to county Farm Bureau agricultural ecology chairmen and organization directors to encourage active and innovative agricultural ecology programming. He also will be responsible for developing and coordinating seminars, training and information for Farm Bureau members regarding risk management and marketing. Previously, Henney represented Farm Bureau in Coshocton, Holmes, Knox and Licking counties. He began his Farm Bureau career in 1998 as organization director in Carroll, Harrison, Jefferson and Tuscarawas counties. He is a graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. As a youth, he was involved in 4-H and FFA. Also joining the department are John Wargowsky, director of labor services and executive director of Mid-American Ag & Hort Services, and David White, director of commodity activities and executive director of the Ohio Livestock Coalition. Wargowsky and White moved to Agricultural Ecology from OFBF’s Business Services Department as part of a realignment designed to maximize the effectiveness of similar programs. "Chris’s experience with volunteers is a great asset for our department," said Constance Jackson, OFBF vice president of agricultural ecology. "His energy and enthusiasm will serve our team well as we strive to provide effective and efficient programs for our members." Jackson said the addition of Wargowsky and White to the department will allow the department to deal proactively with issues and regulations facing farmers. "We will continue to fight against additional regulations for our members, but if the regulations occur, we are equipped to work to assure they are reasonable and science-based," she said. | |
