Ohio Farm Bureau to celebrate achievements, set policy The 86th annual meeting of the Ohio Farm Bureau will take place Dec. 1 to 3, The meeting will follow the theme, "The Power of One: One Purpose, One Vision, One Message." The meeting will offer educational opportunities for members: Two seminars are being offered Wednesday, Dec. 1 One will address "The Dairy Debate." Alan Brugler will host the other seminar that will focus on marketing. Brugler is a featured columnist in Buckeye Farm News and is president of Brugler Marketing and Management. An expanded Health Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Ending the day Wednesday are the young farmer Discussion Meet finals. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 2 and 3, are reserved for policy review, discussion and approval. During the meeting, Deborah Kogan Ray will be available to sign her award-winning children’s book, "Lily’s Garden," and she will receive the OFBF Children’s Literature Award. The winners will be announced in the Outstanding Young Farmer Contest and the OFBF Excellence in Crop Advising Award. Ohio Farm Bureau also will present this year’s Distinguished Service and Cooperative Educator awards. The youth annual meeting will be held in conjunction with the OFBF meeting Friday, Dec. 3. Youth will participate in the state finals of the Spotlight on Safety skits as well as learn who is a member of the Outstanding Youth Council for 2004. In a major change this year, program chairmen will not be meeting for the regular November cabinet meetings. Instead, chairmen are invited to a half-day training session Dec. 1, with the option of staying over night and attending the annual meeting the next day. County Farm Bureaus will receive registration materials by mid-September. According to OFBF Vice President for Information, Education and Community Services Kurt Ely, the final details of the meeting are still being decided.
