"Get out the vote" took on a whole new meaning for members of the Defiance, Paulding and Putnam County Farm Bureaus at their annual meetings this year. As part of their political action plans, the counties hosted Meet the Candidates Forums as part of the business session.

Each local and state candidate in attendance had two minutes for an introduction and give background on the issues affecting the community. Questions were collected from the audience during the dinner and asked of the candidates. The candidates had three minutes to address the question.

According to Organization Director Kendra Heffelfinger, there were a wide range of issues brought before the candidates including sales tax, zoning and land use, animal agriculture, economic development and Community Improvement Corporations and OSU Extension funding.

She said members in attendance felt this was a great opportunity to meet those individuals running for office.
