New leaders join state board

Officer team re-elected

Nine trustee elections were held during annual meeting resulting in two new leaders joining the state board, six re-elections and one trustee changing responsibilities.

Kim Davis of Carrollton was elected to represent District 13, which consists of Carroll, Harrison, Jefferson and Tuscarawas counties. Davis and her husband, Todd, farm along with Todd’s parents; they raise beef cattle and produce hay. She has been active in the Carroll County Farm Bureau where she serves on the county board and has been involved in the membership, marketing and young farmer programs. She is a former feed representative for Countrymark Cooperative and remains active with the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association. Davis is a graduate of Ohio State University where she received her degree in animal science. She and her husband are the parents of three children and are members of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Prior to her election, Davis was named winner of the Discussion Meet competition during the group’s annual meeting.

Andra Troyer, of London, has been elected to serve as Southwest Women’s trustee, representing Farm Bureau members from 22 Ohio counties Troyer and her husband, Richard, are grain farmers and are the parents of one child, Jared, who is active in the family farming operation. She also has been a self-employed small businessperson for 17 years. She has been active in the Madison County Farm Bureau serving as president, membership chairperson and agricultural ecology chairperson. Troyer also has been extensively involved with Darby watershed and other Madison County planning issues. She is a graduate of Tolles Technical Center. She replaces Helen Caplinger who retired from the board after serving as Southwest Women’s Trustee since 1991.

Ellen Joslin, of Sidney, is the new District 10 trustee serving members from Auglaize, Logan, Mercer and Shelby counties. Joslin gave up her position as Northwest Women’s Trustee to run for the district seat. She and her husband, Rob, produce corn, soybeans and wheat. She has been a Farm Bureau member for 22 years and has held numerous leadership positions within the organization. She also has been involved with other farm groups including the Ohio Soybean Council. Additionally, Joslin is active with various local and regional land use organizations and St. John's Lutheran Church. She attended the General Motors Institute and Edison State College and is currently attending Urbana University. The Joslins are the parents of one child. Her unexpired term as Northwest Women’s Trustee will be filled in a special election after the first of the year.

Re-elected trustees were Keith Truckor of Metamora, District 1 (Defiance, Fulton, Henry and Williams); Mike Schumm of Willshire, District 5 (Allen, Paulding, Putnam and Van Wert; Gary Baldosser of Republic, District 6 (Hancock, Hardin, Seneca and Wyandot); Steve Hirsch of Chillicothe, District 15 (Fairfield, Hocking, Pickaway and Ross); Bob Peterson of Sabina, District 19 (Clinton, Greene, Fayette and Warren) and Eric Wolfer of Fayetteville, District 20 (Adams, Brown, Clermont and Highland).
