Nationwide ‘On Your Side’

According to Nationwide President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Rasmussen, the slogan "On Your Side" epitomizes the focus of an organization keyed on helping people.

Rasmussen spoke to Farm Bureau delegates and guests during the Kick-off Lunch during the 86th annual meeting.

He said Nationwide’s values "will carry us as an organization in times when we all have doubts about executive America."

He also said Nationwide is engaged in a brand outreach campaign across the United States. "Everyone deserves to have Nationwide on their side," he said.

Nationwide is the largest farm insurance writer in the United States. Rasmussen said the company would like to expand in the western United States where it hasn’t been in the past. Currently, 350,000 Farm Bureau families are policyholders, with the addition of two new sponsor states this year – Delaware and West Virginia.

Rasmussen reinforced his message of "On Your Side" by showing a video of Nationwide employee efforts with hurricane victims. The video showed Nationwide employees caring for victims through food and supply donations, in addition to the expected business side of assessing homeowner damages.

He told those in attendance that Nationwide continues to view its relationship with Ohio Farm Bureau as valuable and said the shared heritage is a significant part of who Nationwide is. That heritage is propelling Nationwide to become involved with agriculture in new ways, including sponsoring the RFD-TV channel.

Ohio Farm Bureau founded Nationwide Insurance in 1926, as the Ohio Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. Rasmussen acknowledged current members of the Nationwide board of directors who were present at the meeting: Former OFBF presidents Irv Bell, Ken Davis, Fred Finney, Terry McClure, Dave Miller and Jim Patterson, and other members Tim Corcoran and Arden Shisler.
