Election engagement

"Farm Votes Matter" was the rallying cry heading into the elections of 2004. Farm Bureau took the lead in educating and motivating farm families to play a significant role in choosing candidates for public office who demonstrated an understanding of agriculture's concerns and opportunities. Emphasis was placed on registering farm voters, informing them about key issues, helping them assess candidates and getting them to the polls. The Ohio Farm Bureau Agriculture for Good Government Political Action Committee established the Web site ohioagriculturevotes.com that generated as many as 1,000 visits per day. Videos were produced, radio commercials were aired, and more than 220,000 letters went to Farm Bureau members in support of OFBF's preferred Supreme Court candidates. An eight-page election guide was distributed to nearly 60,000 Farm Bureau active members.
