Media Outreach

Because the public's exposure to agricultural issues often comes through the media, OFBF has concentrated on helping editors, writers and broadcasters better understand the farmer's perspective on timely subjects. Central to that effort is the work of County Information Coordinators (CICs) who serve as the county Farm Bureau's one-person media relations specialists. CICs, other volunteer leaders and state staff cooperated to make editorial visits, write letters and host media on the farm. Through these efforts nearly 5,000 stories containing Farm Bureau viewpoints or information about the organization were carried in Ohio newspapers, and thousands of local radio and TV programs carried Farm Bureau views in the past year. OFBF handled hundreds of media requests for assistance, and Farm Bureau members often were interviewed in papers or on TV and radio.
