Calling all candidates for public officeIf you are a candidate for public office, or considering a run for public office, Ohio Farm Bureau has partnered with other business organizations and AFBF to host a Campaign Management Seminar, July 28 and 29 at the Clarion Hotel in Dublin. Enrollment is limited to the first 50 participants and the registration deadline is July 11. According to Rocky Black, OFBF director of state legislative affairs, the purpose of the seminar is to help candidates for public office be successful. Topics addressed include establishing a strong campaign theme, handling the media, preparing a budget and campaign structure. The seminar is designed for candidates from either party interested in running for public office now or at some future time, spouses and campaign managers. Black said Farm Bureau encourages all three to come together and work as a team. Videotapes, overheads, a case study and a computer simulation have been developed to assist in the presentation of the seminar. The computer simulation lets candidates become "virtual candidates" and make decisions for each step of a mock campaign to see who can win the election. Sponsors are OFBF, Nationwide, Ohio Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Business, Ohio Society of CPAs, Ohio Insurance Institute, Ohio Corn Growers, Ohio Soybean Association, Ohio Association of Realtors and the Ohio Manufacturers Association. Call the OFBF government affairs office, 614-246-8251 for a seminar brochure and registration form. The seminar fee of $125 includes meals, breaks and materials. Lodging costs are not included. Rooms can be reserved for $79.95 per night. | |
