Richard Barrett
Hardin County

Richard Barrett joked that he has been a Farm Bureau member since before he was born. His mother, Wanda, was pregnant with him when she served on the OFBF board of trustees in the late 1960s.

He currently serves as Hardin County Farm Bureau president and also has been chairman of the promotion and education committee and advisory council and young farmer committee. He and his wife, Nancy, served on the State Young Farmer Committee. They also have participated in the county membership campaign. Richard is a three-time participant in the Discussion Meet and has been a delegate to the OFBF annual meeting numerous times. He and Nancy are members of the Goshen 3 advisory council.

Barrett and his brother operate a small grain farm. He works off the farm in sales for Apple Farm Service. He and Nancy are the parents of three children, Christopher, Brandi and William, and are involved at First United Methodist Church in Kenton.

"Farm Bureau is the voice of agriculture. I tell everybody Farm Bureau is by far the loudest voice for agriculture. No one has the voice we have," he said.
