Adam Sharp
Director of national affairs

Adam Sharp joined the Ohio Farm Bureau staff in December 2004. As director of national affairs, he is working for members on national legislative and regulatory issues that directly impact Ohio farmers.

Among Sharp’s responsibilities are coordinating Ohio activities with the AFBF government affairs staff. He also interacts with Ohio’s congressional delegation and their staffs and is responsible for strengthening the relationship between Farm Bureau volunteers and their members of Congress.

The Fairfield County native had a nine-year career in Washington, D.C. He most recently was acting counselor on agricultural policy to the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where he was the key contact on agricultural policy issues. He also served as associate assistant administrator in EPA’s office of prevention, pesticides and toxic substances and served on the U.S. delegation to the Montreal Protocol treaty negotiations.

He previously was a six-year director of AFBF governmental relations and regulatory affairs where he focused on farm and environmental policy.

He has remained active in the family crop and livestock farm in Amanda. He is a graduate of Ohio State University where he majored in agricultural communications. The self-described history buff studied agriculture in the Czech Republic and China. He also is an avid backpacker. He and his wife, Lisa, are the parents of Sydney, 2, and Brady, 1.

"Growing up on our family farm, and being involved in 4-H and FFA, attending Farm Bureau council meetings with my parents and then working for Ed Johnson and ABN Radio during college all certainly had a strong and positive impact on me and my interests in agriculture," Sharp said. "Moving back to Ohio and working for OFBF is a perfect fit for me. I look forward to working for Ohio farmers."
