Nominations accepted for Certified Crop Adviser awardThe Excellence in Crop Advising Award recognizes Certified Crop Advisers (CCA) who have performed superior service for farmer clients in nutrient management, soil and water management, integrated pest management and crop production. Ohio Farm Bureau and the Ohio Certified Crop Adviser Program will recognize one outstanding CCA at the state level. The winner receives a plaque, recognition in publications and a $500 cash award. The purpose of the award is to increase awareness that farmers and their service people strive to do their best in making economically sound cropping decisions but ones that are environmentally sound, too. With increasing farm size, complexity of management options and increasingly complex regulations, farmers rely more and more on the advice of specialists who are CCAs; there are more than 600 CCAs in the state. The award will be presented at Farm Science Review in September. Applications are available at county Farm Bureau offices, county OSU Extension offices, county Soil and Water Conservation District offices and via www.ofbf.org Click on Ecology of Agriculture. Deadline for nominations is July 15. | |
