Tour looks at vegetable productionVegetable growers, researchers and industry representatives are invited to see how things are growing in Ontario, Canada on June 22 and 23. A tour, hosted in part by the Ohio Vegetable and Potato Growers Association (OVPGA), will visit growers of a variety of processing vegetables in the Leamington/Chatham/Kent county area. At Ridgetown College/University of Guelph, participants will see research plots for vegetable weed, insect and disease problems, tomato breeding, production systems, nutrient management, irrigation, composting and more. Other stops will show reduced tillage tomato production, large scale fertigation and drip irrigation in processing vegetables with on-farm irrigation storage ponds.
