Volunteer leaders invited to Columbus Aug. 15, 16Published on 07/11/2005New and returning county committee chairmen and coordinators will meet in Columbus in mid-August to develop their leadership skills and receive program-specific training. "Commitment to Lead" is the theme of this years Leadership Conference Aug. 15 and 16. The Leadership Conference committee is still finalizing the speakers and schedule, but training is the focus of the two-day event. Two specific types of training will be offered this year: New chairmen will have training to help them understand their role as chairmen and how to work within the county Farm Bureau structure. On Tuesday morning, all chairmen will choose among four different breakout sessions, ranging from broadband technology for rural Ohio to a preview of the fall election ballot. In addition, the Young Farmer Discussion Meet will take place Monday after dinner. The topic will be "What risk does agri-terrorism pose to national security?" To wrap-up the event, all chairmen are invited to attend an Our Ohio Launch Party. (See details in the Our Ohio: Out and About story on this page.) Chairmen should receive an invitation to the conference from their organization directors. Please notify your organization director if you would like to attend and if you have a roommate preference. Organization directors will provide a map, agenda and conference information to registered chairmen. | |
