Ohio farm agents recognized

Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance recognized its leading 2004 farm insurance agents at a conference held last month in Des Moines, Iowa. Twenty-two top performers from Ohio won awards primarily because of their work with Ohio Farm Bureau members.

Chris Schiefer of Tiffin was honored as Nationwide’s No. 1 farm agent in Ohio as measured by new farm insurance sales at the FAST Track Conference, an inaugural event to recognize farm agents with Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance. While more than 1,200 agents write farm business for Nationwide, only 43 qualified for the FAST Track Conference. "FAST" stands for Farm Agent Sales Team.

The conference also included presentations on farm insurance and related issues. Jack Fisher, OFBF’s executive vice president, and Dan Rapp, OFBF’s director of member services, attended along with leaders of other Farm Bureaus that sponsor Nationwide.

"Farm insurance is a highly specialized line of coverage," remarked Jerry Hillard, an officer with Nationwide Agribusiness. "Agents trained to focus on this unique type of business provide our farm customers with important advice and counsel. Our FAST Track Conference recognizes the best of the best who have made this commitment."

Nationwide’s companies, including Nationwide Agribusiness and Allied Insurance, constitute the largest insurers of farms in the United States. Nationwide recently introduced a new farm policy called AgriChoice that has spurred significant growth in its farm insurance business, especially among Farm Bureau members.

Ohio agents recognized at the conference were: Richard Beard, Piqua; Jon Jordan, Greenville; Randall Rogers, Kenton; Doug Brown, Gallipolis; Ron Kallam, Georgetown; Linda Sawyers, New Lexington; Dean Cook, Marysville; Thomas Milligan, Marion; Chris Schiefer, Tiffin; Nick Denman, Shreve; Robert McCrimmon, Kinsman; Roger Dickman, Sandusky; Russ Newman, Hillsboro Gregory Trent, Norwalk; Jason Haines, Mt.
