Volunteer
Gordon Weber
Portage County

In addition to being a teacher, counselor and football and wrestling coach (now retired), Gordon Weber made time for Farm Bureau. Currently, he serves on the county board, but previously he has been county president, vice president, government affairs chairman and served on the county policy development and membership committees. He and his wife, Phyllis, were members of the Western Reserve advisory council. They operate a 55-acre farm, where they raise soybeans and hay.

Weber also is serving on the county Solid Waste committee and the farmland preservation committee. Previously, he served on the county zoning commission. He and Phyllis were founding members of the Atwater Historical Society. They are the parents of four children, have seven grandchildren and are expecting their first great-grandchild this fall. They are active in Atwater United Methodist Church where he has been a Sunday School teacher, trustee and a 60-year choir member.

"Gordon is a strong believer that Farm Bureau is the only voice and power a farmer has," Phyllis said.
