Go ‘Hog Wild’ at the State Fair

Published on 07/11/2005

Now in its fifth year, Ohio Farm Bureau is again sponsoring "Land and Living – Agriculture, Your Link to Life!" exhibit at the Ohio State Fair, Aug. 3 to 14. Farm Bureau Day is Aug. 12. State Fair staff at the admission gates will be wearing Farm Bureau shirts, and announcements will be made throughout the day inviting fairgoers to stop by the exhibit.

County Farm Bureaus have been working this summer on the "Hog Wild" project. Counties are sponsoring piggy banks painted to represent food and agriculture in their respective counties. In honor of the Our Ohio brand launch and upcoming television show, the Our Ohio logo must appear on the pig.

This project is inspired by a hugely successful Hog Wild! Project implemented by the Jackson/Vinton County Farm Bureau in the summer of 2004. Fairgoers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite pig. After the fair, the pigs will be displayed at the OFBF annual meeting Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

Watch the July 25 issue of Buckeye Farm News for more details about this year’s fair exhibit.
